Ken Wilber's Twenty Tenets of Evolution - part 1 of 4 by Jeff Carreira and Elizabeth Debold

Wilber outlines these tenets in his book Sex, Ecology, Spirituality (Shambhala, 1995), and he describes them as “patterns of existence” and “tendencies of evolution.”

On this webcast, we will look into the first group of tenets, which are the following:

  • Reality is not composed of things or processes, but of holons, which are wholes that are simultaneously parts.
  • Holons display four fundamental capacities:
  • Self-preservation (agency)
  • Self-adaptation (communion)
  • Self-transcendence
  • Self-dissolution
  • Holons emerge.
  • Holons emerge holarchically.
